We value your rights. See if you are eligible.

We operate in accordance with EU Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004, which grants air passengers the right to compensation when boarding is denied.

If an airline prevents you from boarding even though you have a confirmed booking, you may be entitled to financial compensation.

When am I entitled to compensation for denied boarding?

You may be entitled to overbooking compensation if your flight departs from a country in the European Union (or the United Kingdom), or if it arrives in the EU (or the UK) and is operated by a European airline.

This right applies when you are denied boarding against your will due to the airline selling more seats than available, provided you have a valid booking and you did not voluntarily give up your seat.

and for other flights between

Know your rights and travel with peace of mind

If you are denied boarding against your will, Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004 guarantees a set of fundamental rights.

Right to information

The airline is required to inform you about your rights.

Right to assistance

While you wait for a solution, you are entitled to:

  • Meals and drinks.
  • Two phone calls or emails.
  • Hotel accommodation and transport, if necessary.

Right to choose between a refund or rerouting

The airline must immediately offer you a choice between:

  • A full ticket refund and, if necessary, a return flight to your original point of departure.
  • An alternative flight (rerouting) to your final destination.

Compensation vs refund: what’s the difference?

It’s important to know these are two separate rights, and you may be entitled to both.

Refund

It's the return of the ticket price if you decide not to travel.

Compensation

It's a sum of money (from €250 to €600) owed for the inconvenience caused by being denied boarding.

Requesting a ticket refund does not automatically mean you give up your right to compensation. However, if you accept an alternative flight that gets you to your destination with only a limited delay, the compensation amount may be reduced by 50%.

What if the airline does not provide assistance?

If the airline doesn’t offer meals, drinks, hotel accommodation, or the communication options required by law:

  • Document everything: keep evidence of the lack of assistance (photos, emails, staff names).
  • Ask for help on the spot: speak with airline staff at the airport and remind them of your rights.
  • Pay necessary costs and keep receipts: if you must pay out of pocket for food or accommodation, keep expenses reasonable and save all receipts.
  • File an official complaint: if the airline refuses to reimburse your expenses, contact the competent national authority to enforce your rights.

Remember:
you have the right to immediate assistance. Being informed and acting proactively is the key to making sure your rights are respected.
